Teaching
One to one supervision | All students will be appointed a Supervisor who is there to give advice, encouragement and constructive criticism to research students. You will meet with your supervisor regularly throughout your PhD; on average students can expect to receive approximately one hour of supervision per week. This will of course vary by Department and over the duration of the course, with more supervision typically being given in the early stages of the research, and prior to submission. The University of Cambridge publishes an annual Code of Practice which sets out the University’s expectations regarding supervision. |

Placements
As part of the DTP Programme, each student must complete a 12-week internship (Professional Internship for PhD Students or PIPS). The objective of the PIPS is to give students an opportunity to gain experience in a non-academic area. The aim is to help early career researchers to understand the context of their research and expose them to the range of opportunities available after graduation.
